Dr. Guler, in a project with Dr. Chris Moore and Dr. Nathan Swami, has been awarded a 3 Cavaliers Grant for a project titled "Isolation and analysis of patient-derived malaria parasites." The goal of the project is to use a density-based enrichment methods along with a microfluidics platform to help enrich malaria-infected cells from a small volume of patient blood. The new methods will hopefully be used in malaria-endemic countries to study drug resistance and malaria parasite metabolism.
